Muhahaha, so now news! yep the new forum is on its way, the only delay is that it involves a bit of tweaking the way we work and i want it to work as intended and well, after that there will be a bunch of additions, still i hope everyone is liking the new Panchira! so far its working pretty quick ass, it was a good decision to keep it simple ^_^

Soooo Happy Happy Halloween!

Yes the latest version of Panchira!, version 5 “Kaput Kitten” is finally unveiled, hurray for fucking tardiness, yeah i know I’ve been a bit missive regarding Panchira! and its still not as i want it to be, but its coming along nicely, so here are some of the changes:

• New Theme – Why oh why? the other theme was kick ass awesome!!! yeah i know i created it! still it had 2 fatal flaws, 1) it was overly complex, so small changes or updates in the core code meant yours truly was constantly hacking away and 2) it was completely independent of the code, and that made it even more complicated, while this new theme, is 99% CSS work, so most of updates in the future wont break the site! also i paid attention to the complaints on the old design and tried and fix it on this one, gone are glaring colors and little fonts!
• Improved Performance – That’s partly case the new theme is much lighter on the eyes and also lots of updates of the code.
• New Chat – Yay chattinggggg!!! MOARZZZ!!!! yep yep chat and its for everyone (don’t need to be a member to chat), so expect lots of members from hentaish,tentakle,neechan and such to drop by for a bit of fun.
• Your own Picture Album – I know… finally, its a bit plain as of now, but the software will improve with time and will offer more albums and other media uploads in the coming months ^_^

TODO LIST!

• Forum – Yeah its on its way, just not now, cause i wanted this version online as soon as possible, but pretty soon, the current forum wont go away it will become the groups forums (it will reside as a tab of groups)
• Better Image Upload – Kinda self explanatory!
• Video Gallery – Kinda self explanatory!

Well i wouldn’t say it was a Panchira! FAIL (cause this time it was mostly not my fault), but ill try and explain what happen on Panchira! (from this last week, between the 18th and the 23rd of March 2011) in a timeline:

Over the weekend (18th to 20th) there was some random downtime, as well as some major slowdowns, since these weren’t major and the site bounce back, i didnt do anything, business as usual.

On Tuesday the 22nd there were again some slowness and small downtime, so i contacted my host and i was told there were some problems still lingering from the weekend problems and that the site was hosted on new hardware, but that most problems were fixed, ok… i thought.

On Wednesday i finally had some time to go over my e-mails and there were loads of e-mails with confused panchira users, as well as lots of failed password resets >_< i check the site and it seemed ok, but when i checked the code i saw that some of the latest things i had been working on (for the next version of panchira) were gone, then i checked the time of the files and found out that they were, about a month and a half back in time, yeah the site had reverted to more than a month ago T_T say WHAT?

At this point i contacted my host and they said oh yes when we moved you to new hardware we didn’t move the files, we recovered those from your latest backup (fucking month old backup), i wont sum up the rest of my discussion with the host, suffice to say panchira will be leaving soon enough and ill be sure to take some time to make some really nice reviews regarding their service.

Anyways, good thing i don't trust any host with my sites and i had a backup from last friday (the 18th) on my NAS (by the way i have multiple backups, just in case), so i shutdown panchira and after a couple of hours, brought everything back, to how it was 5 days before.

First i would like to say im really sorry, i should have pick this up way sooner, but this wasn't a good week, im a bit overworked hehehe, still in the future i promise ill pay way more attention to my e-mails from panchira (i know i know, i suck), and apparently the host i choose for Panchira! not only didn't do their job right but still weren't professional enough to at least warn me, if i knew about their fuck-up i would have cleaned it up on monday and not on late wednesday >_<

So sorry for everyone that had to sign up again, or made post, or lost something during this past couple of days ^^ and thanks for sticking around with Panchira!, lots of yummy things are on the way hehehe

Well encase you don’t know, Japan suffered a huge earthquake+tsunami (at 11 March 2011) and it seems we have a nuclear disaster also on the way (seems one of their nuclear plants was pushed to the limit because of the aftershocks), i would first like to send our best wishes from the Panchira! community and myself to every Japanese and everyone living now in Japan that are being affected by this, for lack of words cataclysm, i hope everyone is good and safe and that things go back to normal as soon as possible… and that leads me to my second part, the best way is to fight back with more Japanese awesomeness as ever!!!! and ill do my part by buying manga and Japanese goods as often as i can, well i normally do that anyways, as i think a lot of you as well, still its a nice way to share and delight with some of awesome tidbits that are Japan… JAPAN YOU ARE AWESOME BANZAIII!!!!

Latest changes ^^:

• Optimized Mysql and improved caching, so Panchira! should run much faster now ^_^
• Updates on the core, so some bugs that i haven’t seen are now fixed heheeh, what!!! hehehe
• More Social Buttons ^_^ but only on the main page, loading these on the sidebar is already making the pages load twice as long >_<
• Caching on most of the template YAY the site is supah fast (still it needs a bit of more work on that)
• Added star rating and comments for the gallery (as requested, tags for later)
• Profile wall posts YAY, now you can go to anyone’s profile (try mine http://panchira.org/members/fiend/ ) and *wink* them… what? well that was my motivator for this missing feature!!! and yes you could post before to someone’s wall my going to the Activity and then posting with a @username (like twitter) but its not the same thing as going to someones profile and posting, i think we all agree that this is a plus ^^

• Cleaned up of the activity stream ^_^.oO( hehehe much better now, cleaner to view, less junk)

• Synchronizing version numbers with changelogs, so Panchira! is now on version 4.3 ^^

Things to do:

• Finish the optimizations (Content Caching, Clean up Theme, PHP Accelerator)
• Videos for the Help Section.
• Improve the Sideboards (faster and more helpful).
• Ability for users to install their own widgets/functions.
• Add the Personal and Group Picture/Video Albums.
• Add Streaming Video.
• Cleaner and better user profiles.
• Setup Server side Caching (these kinds of optimizations are not needed for now).
• CDN Support for Media.
• More Privacy Options.
• Fully disable the need for the wordpress backend.

• Different Designs (stylesheets) for the site, so if you dont like the overkill purple, you can just click a box and change it to black or another color ^^

Anywhooo 2 new senpai, welcome welcome, nick and stranger, one is a former the other is brand spanking new, txaaaa gots lots of new things planned for panchira, hope everyone will like it heheheh, for now im still tweaking a lot and posting stuff and finishing up most of the little stuff i didnt have time to (check changelog), mostly putting it in a good place, then ill start adding new features and stuff YAYYY!!!!

Ohh almost forgot check the thread about new Panchira! stuff heheheh ahhh and the picture is only related with well more Panchira! senpai and stuffs >_<

Yeah i know, its sucks having your birthday on the 25th of December, but oh well… wait, my birthday isnt on the 25th, so… ahh well, just saying that it seems like it sucks hahahaha

Well i made a post about this a year ago, talking about what is a senpai, so here is the revamped version, since soon enough there should be 1 or 2 new senpai ^_^ so what is a senpai and what is to be expected from a senpai?

To be a Panchira! Senpai you have to:

1. support and respect the members of Panchira!
2. try and keep the site clean and following the few rules we have, we don’t enforce rules, but the rules are there to be followed
3. actively participate on Panchira!
4. promote Panchira! on the interwebs

What can you do if you are a Panchira! Senpai:

1. higher permissions, so you can add, delete, change everything from posts to image uploads
2. ban, delete… whatever users
3. basically moderate
4. as time goes on a Panchira! grows, senpai will have more and more powers

well the list of next senpai is already made, but we are always looking for future senpai, so a good way of becoming a future senpai is being really active and helpful ^_^.oO(for more info on senpai and the rules of Panchira! check our Terms)

To be a Hentaish Editor you have to:

1. upload high quality english (at least written/subtitles) manga and anime’s – on good file hosts and or bittorrent (its cool cause some of those pay a lot of money for your files)
2. always reply to comments on your posts… respectfully
3. promote Hentaish on the interwebs
